Wheel Speed Sensor: Service and Repair

On models equipped with airbag, disarm airbag as described under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG SYSTEM DISARMING.
1. Remove rear toothed rotor.
2. Remove rear speed sensor connector.
3. Remove rear speed sensor.
4. Temporarily install speed sensor in backing plate.
5. Secure clip so white-painted portion is non twisted.
6. Insert a feeler gauge between speed sensor pole piece and rotor toothed surface. Torque rear toothed rotor attaching bolts to 3-4 ft. lbs., with a gap of .008-.028 inch on Sigma and 3000GT models and .012-.035 inch on all other models between pole piece and rotor.
7. Slowly spin rotor one full revolution to ensure sensor pole piece does not come in contact with rotor.
