General System Description

The Mitsubishi W4A32 is a fully automatic four-speed electronically controlled transaxles. These transaxles are used on all Galant AWD models. The W4A32 transaxle incorporates a transfer case assembly for All Wheel Drive. All models are equipped with a lock up torque converter.

The Electronic Control Unit receives inputs from the following:
-8GPulse Generator "A"
-8GPulse Generator "B"
-8GCoolant Temperature Sensor
-8GOil Temperature Sensor
-8GThrottle Position Sensor
-8GIdle Motor Position Switch
-8GAccelerator Switch
-8GInhibitor Switch
-8GKickdown Servo Switch

The Electronic Control Unit calculates if a shift change is needed and controls the following outputs:
-8GDamper Clutch Control Solenoid Valve
-8GPressure Control Solenoid Valve
-8GShift-Control Solenoid Valves
