Operation
The distributor shaft--connected to the camshaft--rotates at the same speed as the camshaft.

As the distributor shaft rotates, the distributor rotor--mounted on the distributor shaft--also rotates, distributing the high Voltage pulses from the ignition coil to the secondary terminals of the distributor cap.

The distributor houses the optical crankshaft Position/Camshaft (TDC) sensor. Refer to COMPUTERIZED ENGINE CONTROLS for description and operation.
