Closed Throttle Position Switch

Idle Position Switch Circuit:

Idle Switch / Motor Position Sensor Locations:

To test the closed throttle position Switch, located within the motor position sensor (mounted on the throttle body), proceed as follows.

Idle Position Switch Test:

1. Disconnect the motor position sensor connector.
2. Check for continuity between terminal 3 and the body ground.
Terminal 3: Idle Switch

3. Depress the accelerator off the idle position and check for continuity, there should be none (infinite ohm). Release the throttle to the idle position and test for continuity again, there should be continuity (0 ohm).

4. Replace the motor position sensor if it fails the above test.
