DESCRIPTION
The purge control solenoid valve is an electromechanical, vacuum switching valve.

Purge Control Valve Location:

LOCATION
The purge control valve is located on the firewall.

EVAP Canister Purge Solenoid Circuit:

OPERATION
When the ECU senses conditions suitable for purge operation, it supplies the ground circuit to the solenoid. The plunger in the solenoid moves, connecting the inlet and outlet ports. This allows vacuum to be applied to the purge port of the canister.
