Without Traction Control


Throttle Position Sensor:






1. Disconnect the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) connector.

Throttle Position Sensor Test:






2. Connect an ohmmeter between terminals # 3 (closed throttle position switch) and # 4 Sensor ground), using lead wires with alligator clips.

Throttle Lever Adjustment:






3. Insert a 0.65 mm (0.0256 in.) feeler gauge between the Fixed SAS and the throttle lever.

Throttle Position Sensor Adjustment:






4. Loosen the TPS mounting bolts, then turn the TPS counterclockwise completely.
- Continuity should exist at this time.
5. Slowly turn the TPS in a clockwise direction until continuity is broken.
6. Tighten TPS mounting screw.
7. Connect the the TPS electrical connector.

TEST TPS OUTPUT VOLTAGE
1. Without starting the engine turn the ignition switch to the ON position, and check the TPS output voltage (use scan tool or measure from harness side of connector). (0.4-1.0 volts acceptable)
- If the voltage is out of specification, test the Throttle Position Sensor, its electrical connections and wiring harness.
2. Turn OFF the ignition switch.
3. Remove the feeler gauge.
