Heater Core: Service and Repair

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Drain coolant into a suitable container.
3. Remove floor console and instrument panel as outlined under Instrument Panel.

4. Remove center reinforcement, Fig. 29.
5. Remove right-hand foot shower, distribution and center ducts.
6. On models with A/C, remove evaporator assembly as outlined under Evaporator.
7. To prevent bolts from falling into blower assembly, set air selection damper to outside air induction position.
8. Remove heater unit assembly.

9. Remove plate from heater unit, Fig. 30.
10. Remove heater core from heater unit. Use caution not to damage heater core fins or pad part of heater core.
11. Reverse procedure to install.
