Procedures

1. Inspect case and brackets for dents, cracks, deformities, or rust. SRS may not activate properly if SDU is improperly installed.
2. Inspect SDU connectors for damaged or deformed terminals.
3. Inspect lock lever for damage or rust.


Perform the following steps to inspect and service the SRS after a collision, whether or not an air bag has been deployed:
1. Connect scan tool to diagnostic check connector.
2. Read all displayed DTCs. If battery power supply has been disconnected or disrupted by collision, scan tool cannot communicate with SRS diagnosis unit. Inspect, and if necessary, repair body wiring harness before proceeding further.
3. Read service data, then erase DTCs.
4. Read and record all DTCs displayed after 45 seconds. Refer to "Diagnostic Trouble Codes" for DTC diagnosis.
