Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.
Manuals through 2025 now available!

Our trusted friends have launched a new website named LEMON, which has newer manuals. It also contains all the CHARM manuals.

LEMON is the spiritual successor to CHARM, I recommend you try it!

Toe-In

Fig. 3 Toe Setting:

As viewed from above, wheels must be set so distances A and B, Fig. 3, measured at wheel rims and at axle height, are different at a given value. If distance A is smaller than distance B, setting is known as toe-in. If distance A is greater than distance B, setting is known as toe-out. toe setting is given in inches and refers to difference between A and B. If distances A and B are same, toe setting is 0.
1. Adjust toe-in by undoing clips and turning left and right tie rod turnbuckles by same amount in opposite directions.
2. To increase toe-out, turn left turnbuckle toward front of vehicle and right turnbuckle toward rear of vehicle. To increase toe-in, turn turnbuckles in opposite direction.
3. Toe-in is adjusted 0.48 inch for each half turn of left and right tie rods.
4. After adjusting toe-in, check that steering wheel turning angle is within specification.
