Evaporative Emissions System: Testing and Inspection

INSPECTION





1. Disconnect the red striped vacuum hose from the Throttle body and connect a vacuum pump to the vacuum hose.
2. With cold engine (60°C [140°F] or below) verify these conditions;
- With engine idling apply 14 in Hg vacuum; vacuum should be held.
- With engine at 3,000 rpm apply 14 in Hg vacuum; vacuum should be held.
3. Warm engine up to operating temperature (70°C [158°F] or higher) verify these conditions;
- With engine idling apply 14 in Hg vacuum; vacuum should be held.
- Within 3 minutes after starting engine with engine at 3,000 rpm apply 14 in Hg vacuum; vacuum should be released.
- After 3 minutes after starting engine with engine at 3,000 rpm apply 14 in Hg vacuum; vacuum should be held momentarily and then it should be released.
