Throttle Position Sensor: Adjustments

Throttle Position Sensor Location:

1. Disconnect the throttle position sensor connector.

Idle Position Switch, Continuity Check:

2. Using jumper wires, connect an ohmmeter across terminals 3 (idle position switch) and 4 (sensor ground) of the connector.

Idle Switch Continuity Check, Set-up:

3. Insert a .065 mm feeler gauge between the fixed SAS and the throttle lever.

Idle Switch Check For Continuity:

4. Loosen the throttle position sensor mounting bolts and turn the TPS body fully counter clockwise.
5. Check for continuity across terminals 3 and 4. There should be continuity.

Idle Switch Check For No Continuity:

6. Slowly turn the TPS body clockwise until you reach a point that no longer has continuity across terminals 3 and 4.
7. Tighten the TPS mounting bolt at this point
8. Reconnect the throttle position sensor connector.
