Body - Liftgate Half-Latching Condition

SUBJECT:
LIFTGATE LATCH PARTIALLY RE-LATCHING

PURPOSE

After pulling the hatch release lever and exiting the vehicle, air pressure from closing the door may cause the liftgate to half-latch. The liftgate can then only be opened by pulling the release lever again or using the key in the liftgate lock.





To eliminate this condition, replace the liftgate latch with the new, improved parts listed in the PARTS INFORMATION section of this bulletin. The new latches have bigger springs and a modified latch lever assembly.

2000-2003 Eclipse models produced before 10/03

PROCEDURE





Replace the liftgate latch. Refer to Group 42 in the appropriate Eclipse service manual.
