Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.
Manuals through 2025 now available!

Our trusted friends have launched a new website named LEMON, which has newer manuals. It also contains all the CHARM manuals.

LEMON is the spiritual successor to CHARM, I recommend you try it!

Main Bearing Cap

Main Bearing Cap

Tighten the bolts to the specified torque in the tightening sequence shown.
Tightening torque 25 ± 2 Nm (18 ± 1 ft. lbs.)

Make a paint mark on the head of each bolt.

CAUTION:
If the bolt is overtightened, loosen the bolt completely and then retighten it by repeating the tightening procedure from step 4.
If the bolt is turned less than 90 degrees, proper fastening performance may not be achieved. Be sure to turn the bolt exactly 90 degrees.

Make a paint mark on the bearing cap 90 degrees from the paint mark made on the bolt, in the direction of tightening the bolt.
Turn each bolt 90 degrees in the tightening sequence specified in step 4, and make sure that the paint marks on the bolt and cap are aligned.
