Transfer Case Skid Plate RIV-Nut Repair

TRANSFER CASE SKID PLATE RIV-NUT REPAIR
1. Remove the old riv nut by grinding the head off.
2. Remove the damaged nut from the frame using a magnet or equivalent.
3. Using a long full threaded bolt, thread a nut to near the head of the bolt.
4. Put a larger nut onto the bolt so that it is free-spinning on the bolt with the bearing side away from the head of the bolt.
5. Thread the riv nut onto the end of the bolt.
6. Insert the riv nut and bolt into the hole in the frame.
7. Hold the larger nut with a wrench and torque the nut against the larger nut to collapse the riv nut.
