Headlight Levelling Unit Circuit (Part 2):
TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION (COMMENT)
When one of the automatic leveling does not work, the wiring harness and connector(s) between the headlight automatic leveling-ECU and the headlight leveling unit, or the headlight assembly (headlight leveling unit) may have a problem.
TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS
- Malfunction of headlight assembly (headlight leveling unit)
- The wiring harness or connectors may have loose, corroded, or damaged terminals, or terminals pushed back in the connector
DIAGNOSIS
STEP 1. Check headlight leveling unit.
Perform a leveling motor drive test of the headlight leveling unit to check that the motor is driven. Headlight Automatic Levelling Motor Drive Test
Q: Do Headlight leveling unit work normal?
YES : The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to general (body and chassis) - How to use Troubleshooting/inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction).
NO (The left leveling motor is not driven.) : Go to Step 2.
NO (The right leveling motor is not driven.) : Go to Step 5.
STEP 2. Check headlight automatic leveling-ECU connector C-110, Headlight leveling unit (LH) connector A-37 for loose, corroded or damaged terminals, or terminals pushed back in the connector.
Q: Is headlight automatic leveling-ECU connector C-110, Headlight leveling unit (LH) connector A-37 in good condition?
YES : Go to Step 3.
NO : Repair the damaged parts.
STEP 3. Check wiring harness between headlight automatic leveling-ECU connector C-110 (terminal No. 2/3/4) and headlight leveling-unit (LH) connector A-37 (terminal No. 11/10/12).
Q: Is headlight automatic leveling-ECU connector C-110 (terminal No. 2/3/4) and headlight leveling-unit (LH) connector A-37 (terminal No. 11/10/12) in good condition?
YES : Go to Step 4.
NO : Repair the wiring harness.
STEP 4. Retest the system.
Check that the automatic leveling of the left headlight operates normally.
Q: Is the check result normal?
YES : The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to general (body and chassis) - How to use Troubleshooting/inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction).
NO : Replace the headlight assembly (LH).
STEP 5. Check headlight automatic leveling-ECU connector C-110, Headlight leveling unit (RH) connector A-56 for loose, corroded or damaged terminals, or terminals pushed back in the connector.
Q: Is headlight automatic leveling-ECU connector C-110,Headlight leveling unit (RH) connector A-56 in good condition?
YES : Go to Step 6.
NO : Repair the damaged parts.
STEP 6. Check wiring harness between headlight automatic leveling-ECU connector C-110 (terminal No. 11/12/13) and headlight leveling-unit (LH) connector A-56 (terminal No. 11/10/12).
Q: Is headlight automatic leveling-ECU connector C-110 (terminal No. 11/12/13) and headlight leveling-unit (LH) connector A-56 (terminal No. 11/10/12) in good condition?
YES : Go to Step 7.
NO : Repair the wiring harness.
STEP 7. Retest the system.
Check that the automatic leveling of the right headlight operates normally.
Q: Is the check result normal?
YES : The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to general (body and chassis) - How to use Troubleshooting/inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction).
NO : Replace headlight assembly (RH)
