SERVICE INFORMATION

Some 1984-1987 200SX vehicles may exhibit wind noise (buzzing sound) around the "A" pillar. This noise usually occurs when cross-wind conditions exist. If the door is properly adjusted and the wind noise still exists, add a bead of black RTV silicone adhesive/sealant and butyl to the body side weatherstrip as described below.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

Body Side Weatherstrip:

1. With the door open, clean the trough of the body side weatherstrip with a solvent (alcohol or equivalent) that leaves no residue.

Weatherstrip Indications:

2. Apply a continuous bead of black RTV silicone adhesive/sealant (GE, Dow or equivalent) along the indicated portion (A and B) of the weatherstrip as shown below. Wet finger with water and smooth the silicone as required.

NOTE: Silicone should fill indicated portion (A and B) to be effective.

3. Remove the lower weatherstrip retaining clip and add a bead of butyl to the indicated portion (C) of the weatherstrip as shown below. Replace the retaining clip.

4. Remove excess silicone with a dry paper towel and close the door.
