Glow Plug Control Module: Testing and Inspection

1. Connect test lamp to glow control unit as shown in Fig. 38.
2. Turn ignition on and ensure test lamp remains lit 2-7 seconds. If the ignition switch is off only a short time, the test lamp will not remain lit as long. To avoid erroneous results, leave ignition switch off for at least one minute before turning switch.

3. Connect test lamp to glow control unit as shown in Fig. 39.
4. Disconnect ``S'' terminal lead from starter motor and note length of time test lamp remains lit. Lamp should remain lit 20-50 seconds with coolant temperature below 68°F, approximately 20 seconds with coolant temperature 68-122°F and should not light with coolant temperature above 122°F.

5. Connect test lamp to flow control unit as shown in Fig. 40.
6. Turn ignition switch on and ensure test lamp remains lit .5-7 seconds.
