NOTE: The relief valve maybe serviced separately only if mounted in the air pump. If the relief valve is incorporated in the diverter valve, the diverter valve must be replaced.

REPLACEMENT

1. Using a suitable puller, remove relief valve from pump assembly, Fig 10.
2. Lightly tap new relief valve into pump housing until valve shoulders on housing.

NOTE: Various length pressure setting plugs designed for the particular requirements of the vehicle being serviced determine the pressure required to open the relief valve. Pressure setting plugs are usually color coded.

To remove the pressure setting plug, Fig 11, carefully unlock the legs from the inside surface of the relief valve with a small screwdriver.

To install the plug carefully push it into the relief valve until the legs lock into place.
