Different types of piston compression rings are used, refer to Fig. 16 for piston ring identification. On V8-260 engines, piston ring end gap should be .009-.019 inch for Sealed Power piston rings and .010-.020 inch for Perfect Circle and Muskegon piston rings. On V8-307 engines, piston ring end gap should be .009-.019 inch for Sealed Power piston rings and .010-.020 inch for TRW piston rings. Pistons are available in standard sizes and oversizes of .010 and .030 inch. Rings are available in standard sizes and oversizes of .010 and .030 inch.
