Instrument Panel, Gauges and Warning Indicators: Service and Repair


1982 OMEGA
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove the 2 screws attaching assembly line communication link connector bracket to steering column trim cover if so equipped. Remove the 2 screws attaching steering column trim cover to instrument panel and remove trim cover.
3. Mark location of shift indicator clip on steering column shift bowl for proper reassembly. Remove shift indicator clip. Remove the 2 bolts holding steering column to support and lower steering column, resting steering wheel on front seat.
4. Remove four screws attaching center instrument panel trim cover to instrument panel pad.
5. Pull trim cover rearward and disconnect accessory switch wiring and remote control mirror cable, if equipped. Remove trim cover.
6. Remove four screws attaching instrument cluster assembly to instrument panel pad.
7. Disconnect shift indicator cable from steering column shift bowl.
8. Pull cluster rearward and disconnect speedometer cable and electrical connections.
9. Remove instrument cluster from vehicle.
10. Reverse procedure to install.
