Synchronizer

1. Carefully pry both retaining rings from synchronizer.

2. Scribe alignment mark on hub and sleeve, then separate hub, sleeve and three keys. Note position of components for reassembly.

3. Clean, inspect and replace components as necessary.

4. Assemble hub to sleeve, with extruded lip on hub facing away from shift fork groove in sleeve, then align marks made during disassembly.

5. Carefully install one retaining ring, then pry ring back and insert keys. After installing keys, ensure that retaining ring is properly seated.

6. Install retaining ring at opposite side of synchronizer, so that open segment of ring is not aligned with open segment of retaining ring installed on opposite side of synchronizer.
