Evaporator Core: Service and Repair


TORONADO

1. Disconnect battery ground cable and discharge system refrigerant.
2. Drain cooling system.
3. Remove forward cowl shield attaching screws and the shield.
4. Disconnect bulkhead electrical connector and the four electrical connectors from evaporator.
5. Remove two ESC module bracket assembly nuts.
6. Disconnect electrical connector from ESC module bracket assembly, then remove the bracket assembly.
7. Remove power steering pump bracket support bolts and the bracket.
8. Remove coil bracket assembly nuts.
9. Disconnect spark plug wires from coil and the electrical connector from evaporator.
10. Remove spark plug wire guides, then the wiring harness conduit.
11. Unfasten coil bracket assembly and position aside.
12. Remove remaining two pieces of wiring conduit.
13. Disconnect blower motor electrical connectors.
14. Remove blower motor cooling tube, then the attaching screws and blower motor.
15. Remove evaporator inlet tube assembly bracket bolt and the bracket.
16. Remove evaporator inlet tube assembly bolt and the tube assembly.
17. Disconnect electrical connectors from power module, then remove power module attaching screws and the module.
18. Disconnect heater hoses and position aside.
19. Unfasten A/C module heat shield and position aside.
20. Remove A/C cover plastic cover attaching screws and the cover.
21. Remove A/C module steel cover screws from engine compartment.
22. Remove righthand sound insulator attaching screws, then the courtesy lamp and sound insulator.
23. Pull carpet back on passenger side, then remove floor air outlet attaching screws and the outlet.
24. Remove A/C module steel cover screws and nuts from behind floor air outlet mounting, then the steel cover.
25. Remove evaporator core retaining clip and the evaporator core.
26. Reverse procedure to install.
