Turn Signal Switch: Service and Repair

Fig. 5 Lock plate & cancelling cam removal:

1. Disconnect battery ground cable and remove steering wheel.
2. Remove left hush panel and lower steering column trim cover.
3. Remove turn signal switch harness cover, then disconnect switch harness connector.
4. Pry off shaft lock cover, then mount suitable spring compressor on steering shaft, Fig. 5.
5. Remove lock plate retaining ring and telescoping wheel components, as equipped, then remove spring compressor.
6. Remove lock plate, canceling cam and shaft spring.
7. Remove turn signal lever, screw securing signal switch actuator arm and the arm, if equipped.
8. Remove turn signal switch retaining screws and the switch assembly.
9. Reverse procedure to install.
