Intake Manifold: Service and Repair

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove mass air flow sensor and air intake duct.
3. Remove serpentine drive belt, then the alternator and bracket assembly.
4. Remove ignition module complete with wiring.
5. Disconnect all vacuum hoses and electrical connectors necessary for intake manifold removal.
6. Disconnect throttle, throttle valve and cruise control (if equipped) cables from throttle body.
7. Drain cooling system, then disconnect upper radiator hose and the heater hoses from throttle body.
8. Disconnect fuel lines, then remove fuel rail and injector assembly.
9. Disconnect spark plug wires, then remove intake manifold attaching bolts and the intake manifold.
10. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. If steel replacement gasket is used, coat both sides of gasket with suitable sealer.
b. Apply suitable lubricating sealer to pipe thread fittings.
c. Torque intake manifold attaching bolts to specifications in sequence shown in Fig. 2.
