Ignition Timing: Adjustments

With A/C off, engine at normal operating temperature and engine running, ground the diagnostic terminal at the ALDL (jumper A to B). Set timing at specified rpm in park. If adjustment was necessary tighten distributor hold down to 27 ft. lbs. and recheck timing. With engine still running unground the diagnostic terminal. If ungrounded after engine is stopped a code will be stored in the ECM. Reconnect hoses as necessary and check idle speed and mixture.
