Intermediate Servo Piston Assembly

1. Inspect band apply pin oil seals, for damage.

2. Inspect pin for damage and proper fit in case bore.

3. Inspect inner, outer seal rings and spring for damage. Do not remove seal rings unless replacement is required.

4. Install spring and retainer, snap ring, then the cushion spring.

5. Install spring retainer, then the outer piston seals.

6. Install inner and outer servo pistons onto band apply pin, then compress spring.

7. Lubricate the piston oil seals with Transjel, then install the intermediate servo assembly.

8. Install servo cover O-ring. Lubricate O-ring with Transjel.

9. Install servo cover, then the transmission oil pan. Retain pan with two bolts.

10. Install servo cover compressor J-29714, or equivalent, and compress servo cover.

11. Install retaining ring. Align ring gap with slot on case.

12. Remove J-2971 4, then the oil pan bolts and pan.
