Starter Motor: Service and Repair

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Loosen air inlet hose clamp from throttle body, then remove air cleaner assembly.
3. Disconnect coolant reservoir hose from radiator filler neck and plug to prevent leakage.
4. Remove coolant reservoir attaching bolts.
5. Remove intake manifold brace bolts.
6. Raise and support vehicle.
7. Position a suitable drain pan under vehicle, then remove oil filter.
8. Remove starter motor attaching bolts, then lower starter onto frame member.
9. Disconnect starter motor wiring, then remove starter.
10. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Torque starter motor attaching bolts to 32 ft. lbs.
b. Check engine oil level, adding oil as necessary.
