On 1989 3.3L/V6-204 engines, when installing piston and connecting rod in cylinder bore, notch on piston must face toward front of engine as shown in Fig. 13.
On 1990-92 3.3L/V6-204 engines, when installing piston and connecting rod in cylinder bore, ridge on the outer diameter of the piston pin bore on the inside of the piston must face toward front of engine as shown in Fig. 14.
Measure connecting rod side clearance using a suitable feeler gauge. Clearance should be .003 to .015 inch.
