1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove horn pad and steering wheel as described under STEERING SUSPENSION CHASSIS AND BODY COMPONENTS/STEERING/COMPONENT REPLACEMENT REPAIR PROCEDURES/STEERING WHEEL.
3. Remove tilt lever from steering column, if equipped. If necessary position spark plug boot or other suitable device over tilt lever (to prevent damage), then remove tilt lever using locking pliers.
4. Remove steering column upper and lower covers, then remove dampener assembly.
5. Remove switch assembly attaching screw, then remove switch, Fig. 26.
6. Reverse procedure to install.
