Fig. 6 Front Cover Tightening Sequence. 1991-92 Models:

1. Disconnect battery ground cable, then remove serpentine drive belt tensioner and drive belt.
2. Raise and support vehicle, then remove right hand wheel assembly.
3. Remove right fender splash shield, then flywheel cover. Install suitable tool to prevent flywheel from rotating.
4. Remove crankshaft harmonic balancer attaching bolt, then balancer and key.
5. Remove front cover attaching screws, then front cover.
6. Using flathead screwdriver, remove oil seal. Do not distort cover.
7. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Position centering tool No. J-34995 or equivalent, into cover, then install and partially tighten two opposing cover screws.
b. Torque bolts to specifications in sequence shown in Fig. 6.
