Fuel Filter: Service and Repair

Fuel Filter:

The fuel filter is located under the front of the vehicle alongside the right body rail.

REMOVAL:

1. Relieve the fuel system pressure. Service and Repair
2. Raise the vehicle on a hoist.
3. Flush the fuel filter quick-connect fittings with water, then blow the debris out of the connectors with compressed air.

WARNING: Wear safety goggles to protect eyes from flying debris.

Fuel "Quick-Connect" Fittings:

4. Depress tabs on the male end connector and pull connector apart.
5. Loosen the filter from the bracket.

INSTALLATION:

1. With a clean shop cloth, wipe the male tube ends of the filter.
2. Apply a few drops of clean engine oil to the male tube ends.
3. Place the filter loosely in position.
4. Push connector halves together, pressing firmly until they snap into place.
5. Pull on connector halves to make sure they are locked together.
6. Secure the filter to the vehicle.
7. Lower the vehicle.
8. START the engine and check for fuel leaks.
