Knock Sensor: Service and Repair

Vehicle Speed Sensor:

The knock sensor is located in the engine block below the right bank of cylinders. The knock sensor is installed in a hole which is exposed to engine coolant. Care should be exercised when servicing this sensor.

Removal

1. Disconnect negative battery cable.
2. Drain cooling system.
3. Raise vehicle.
4. Disconnect KS wiring harness connector from KS sensor.
5. Remove KS sensor from engine block.

Installation

1. Install KS sensor into engine block. Tighten to 19 N-m (14 lb.ft.).
2. Reconnect KS wiring harness connector to the KS sensor.
3. Lower vehicle.
4. Refill cooling system.
5. Reconnect negative battery cable.
