Ignition Coil: Service and Repair

IGNITION COIL ASSEMBLY

Removal
1. Disconnect negative battery cable.
2. Raise vehicle and suitably support.
3. Disconnect electrical connectors.
4. Disconnect spark plug cables (Note proper relationship of cables to coils.)
5. Remove ignition coil assembly to block bolts(3).
6. Remove ignition coil assembly from engine.

Installation
1. Install ignition coil assembly to engine.
2. Install ignition coil assembly to block bolts(3).
^ Torque to 20-30 N-m (15-22 lb.ft.).
3. Connect spark plug cables to proper coils.
4. Reconnect electrical connectors.
5. Lower vehicle.
6. Reconnect negative battery cable.

IGNITION COIL

Removal
1. Raise vehicle and suitably support.
2. Remove coil retaining screws(2 per coil).
3. Remove coil from module.

Installation
1. Install coil to module.
2. Install coil retaining screws. Tighten to 4.5 N-m (40 lb.in.).
3. Lower vehicle.
