Intake Manifold: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
1. Remove rocker arm covers.
2. Remove the throttle body. Refer to Fuel Delivery and Air Induction / Throttle Body / Service and Repair.
3. Remove the power steering pump and lay aside.
4. Mark the position of the distributor cap, then remove the distributor.
5. Remove the intake manifold, bolts, nuts, washers and gasket.

CLEAN
^ Gasket material from sealing surfaces.
^ Loose RTV from front and rear ridges of cylinder block.
^ Sealing surfaces with degreaser.

INSTALLATION
1. Apply a 5 mm (3/16-inch) bead of GM 12345739 RTV sealer or equivalent on each ridge.
2. Install the intake manifold gaskets and apply sealer (GM 1052080) to treads of intake manifold retaining studs.
3. Install intake manifold and torque in sequence to 18 Nm (13 ft lb).
Then retorque in sequence to 26 Nm (19 ft lb), refer to Figure 17.
4. Install the rocker arm covers.
5. Install throttle body assembly.

INSPECTION
1. Check coolant level.
2. check for fluid leaks.
