Pole Piece / Reluctor Wheel: Service and Repair

2.8L - Engine Distributor Components:

REMOVE/DISCONNECT
1. With distributor removed, disconnect wires at module terminals
2. Roll pin from drive gear by driving out with 1/8 inch diameter drift punch. Mark shaft and driven gear so they can be aligned for assembly.
3. Gear, shim and tanged washer from distributor shaft. Remove any burrs that may have been caused by removal of pin.
4. Distributor shaft from housing. Bushings in housing are not serviceable.
5. Pick-up coil electrical connector from module.
6. Pickup coil "C" retainer.
7. Remove pickup coil assembly from housing.

INSTALL/CONNECT
1. Pickup coil to housing.
^ Fit tab on the bottom of coil into anchor hole in housing.
2. Pickup coil "C" retainer.
3. Pickup coil wiring connector to module.
^ Make sure locking tab is in place.
4. Distributor shaft into housing
5. Gear, shim and tanged washer onto distributor shaft
^ Align marks on driven gear, housing and shaft assembly.
6. Roll pin into shaft and drive gear.
