Coolant Temperature Sensor/Switch (For Computer): Service and Repair

Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sensor Service:

NOTICE: Care must be taken when handling engine coolant temperature sensor. Damage to the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor will affect proper operation of the fuel injection system.

REMOVE OR DISASSEMBLE
1. Relieve coolant pressure.
2. Remove air intake duct.
3. Negative battery cable.
4. Electrical connector.
5. Carefully back out sensor.


INSTALL OR CONNECT
1 Coat threads with sealer.
2. Install sensor in engine. Locking tab on sensor assembly must be located within area shown in image.
3. Torque to 14 Nm (10 ft lb).
4. Connect electrical connector.
5. Air duct.
6. Connect negative battery cable.
7 Refill lost coolant.
