Coolant Temperature Sensor/Switch (For Computer): Service and Repair

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT

CAUTION: Care must be taken when handling an Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor. Damage to the ECT sensor will affect proper operation of the fuel injection system.

1. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
2. Relieve the coolant system pressure.
3. Disconnect the ECT sensor electrical connector.
4. Carefully back out the ECT sensor.

INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Coat only the threads with sealer.
2. Install the ECT sensor in the engine, fully driven, seated and not stripped.
3. Connect the ECT sensor electrical connector.
4. Refill the engine coolant system.
