Fuel Filter: Service and Repair






Removal Procedure


Note: Important there is no service interval for in-pipe fuel filter replacement. Only replace the in-pipe fuel filter if it is restricted.

1. Relieve the fuel system pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Relief Procedure
2. Raise the vehicle.
3. Remove the quick-connect fitting at the inlet of the in-pipe fuel filter. Refer Servicing Quick Connect Fittings.
4. Remove the threaded fining at the outlet of the in-pipe fuel filter.
5. Drain any remaining fuel into an approved gasoline container.
6. Remove the in-pipe fuel filter from the in-pipe fuel filter mounting bracket.

Installation Procedure
1. Remove the protective caps from the new in-pipe fuel filter.
2. Install the new plastic connector retainer on the in-pipe fuel filter inlet.
3. Install the quick-connect fining at the inlet of the in-pipe fuel filter. Refer to Servicing Quick Connect Fittings.
4. Align the in-pipe fuel filter bracket on the frame with the brake pipe mounting bracket and install the in-pipe fuel filter bracket attaching screw. Tighten the in-pipe fuel filter bracket attaching screws to 27 Nm (20 lb. in.).
5. Lower the vehicle.
6. Tighten the fuel tank filler pipe cap.
7. Install the negative battery cable.
