Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.
Manuals through 2025 now available!

Our trusted friends have launched a new website named LEMON, which has newer manuals. It also contains all the CHARM manuals.

LEMON is the spiritual successor to CHARM, I recommend you try it!

Front Caster Adjustment

^ Tools Required:
- Electric Drill
- Round File

Prepare top strut mounting holes as follows:
1. Remove top strut nuts and washers.
2. Lift front of vehicle by body to separate strut from inner wheel house.
3. Drill two 13/32 inch holes at front and rear of oval strut mounting hole on left and right strut towers.
4. File excess metal to make slotted holes.
5. Paint exposed metal with rust preventive paint or primer.
6. Lower front of vehicle.
7. Install strut attaching nuts, but do not tighten them at this time.

8. Adjust caster by moving top of strut forward or rearward. A 1 mm (0.040 inch) position change at the tower is about equal to 0.1° change in caster.
9. Tighten strut attaching nuts to 47 Nm (35 ft. lbs.).
