Troubleshooting Hints - Charging System

PERFORM BEFORE BEGINNING SYSTEM DIAGNOSIS
1. Visually inspect the hydrometer (built into battery).
^ Green eye - battery is charged.
^ Dark eye - battery is discharged. Charge and load test battery. If battery passes load test, refer to System Diagnosis. Testing and Inspection
^ Clear or light yellow eye - battery electrolyte is low. Replace battery.
2. Check that the generator connector and generator BATT terminals are both clean and tight.
3. Check that battery connections are clean and tight.
4. Check generator belt.
5. Check for proper installation of aftermarket electronic equipment which may affect the integrity of other systems. (Refer to Troubleshooting Procedures.) Diagnostic Aids
