Accumulator HVAC: Service and Repair

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the air cleaner and duct assembly.
2. Recover the refrigerant.





3. Remove the suction line nut (3) at the accumulator.





4. Position aside the suction line from the accumulator.





5. Remove the compressor line nut (2) from the accumulator.





6. Position aside the compressor line from the accumulator.





7. Remove the accumulator bracket bolt.





8. Remove the accumulator.

Installation Procedure





1. Install the accumulator.





2. Install the accumulator bracket bolt.

Tighten
Tighten the accumulator bolt to 4 N.m (36 lb in).

Important: Coat the new O-ring seals with mineral base 525 viscosity refrigerant oil.

3. Install the new O-ring seals onto the compressor line and the suction line fitting.





4. Install the suction line onto the accumulator.





5. Install the suction line nut (3) to the accumulator.

Tighten
Tighten the suction line fitting to 47 N.m (35 lb ft).





6. Install the compressor line to the accumulator.





7. Install the compressor line nut (2).

Tighten
Tighten the compressor line to 16 N.m (12 lb ft).

8. Evacuate and charge the A/C system.
9. Inspect the A/C system for leaks.
10. Install the air cleaner and duct assembly.
