Throttle Position Sensor: Service and Repair

REMOVAL PROCEDURE




1. Relieve the fuel pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Relief Procedure.
2. Remove the Throttle Body Assembly.




3. Remove the TP sensor electrical connector from the TP sensor.




4. Remove the TP sensor mounting bolts (3) from the TP sensor.
5. Remove the TP sensor (2) from the throttle body.
6. Discard the O-ring.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Install the new O-ring on to the TP sensor.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Install the TP sensor (2) on to the throttle body.

Tighten
Tighten the TP sensor screws to 2.3 N.m (20 lb in).




3. Install the TP sensor electrical connector to the TP sensor.




4. Install the Throttle Body Assembly.
5. Install the negative battery cable.
6. Install the rear seat cushion.

IMPORTANT: Ensure nothing is touching or obstructing the accelerator or brake pedals during the following TP Sensor Learn Procedure.

7. Ensure throttle blade is at rest.
8. Turn the key ON.
9. Wait 30 seconds.
10. Turn the key to LOCK.
11. Wait 30 seconds.
The TP Sensor Learn Procedure is now complete.
