Brake Light Switch: Service and Repair

Removal Procedure

Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.





1. Disconnect the battery negative cable.
2. Remove the left closeout insulator panel.
3. Disconnect the electrical connector from the stoplamp switch.





4. Remove the pushrod retainer from the brake pedal pin.





5. Remove the stoplamp switch. Unsnap the switch from the brake pedal pin.

Installation Procedure





1. Install the stoplamp switch on the brake pedal pin. The switch will snap in place.






2. Install the pushrod retainer on the brake pedal pin. The retainer will snap into place.





3. Install the electrical connector on the stoplamp switch.
4. Install the left closeout insulator panel.
5. Connect the battery negative cable.
