Blower Motor: Service and Repair


Blower Motor and Fan Replacement

REMOVAL PROCEDURE
The blower motor and fan are located in the lower right hand corner of the HVAC module. Service this component as an assembly only.
For blower motor electrical diagnosis. Refer to HVAC Blower Controls System Check

CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the right closeout/panel insulator.
3. Move the Body Control Module (BCM) aside. Refer to Body Control Module Replacement in Body Control System.
4. Disconnect the electrical connections at the blower motor.
5. Remove the blower motor retaining screws.
6. Remove the blower motor and fan assembly.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the blower motor and fan assembly.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Install the retaining screws.

Tighten
Tighten the screws to 5 N.m (45 lb in).

3. Connect the electrical connections.
4. Install the BCM into position.
5. Install the right closeout/insulator panel.
6. Connect the negative battery cable.

Tighten
Tighten the negative battery cable bolt to 16 N.m (12 lb ft).
