Battery Insulator Replacement




REMOVAL PROCEDURE

CAUTION:
^ Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Cautions and Notices.
^ Refer to SIR Handling Caution in Cautions and Notices.


1. Disconnect the battery ground (negative) cable.
2. Disconnect the battery (positive) cable.
3. Remove the nut that attaches the underhood electrical center to the strut tower stud. Place the underhood electrical center aside for access.
4. Remove the battery hold down retainer.

IMPORTANT: Do not tip the battery more than 40 degrees during battery adjustment.

5. Adjust the battery for access.

IMPORTANT: Do not tip the battery more than 40 degrees during battery insulator removal.

6. Remove the battery insulator.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

IMPORTANT: Do not tip the battery more than 40 degrees during battery insulator installation.

1. Install the battery insulator.

IMPORTANT: Do not tip the battery more than 40 degrees during battery adjustment.

2. Return the battery to the proper position.
3. Install the battery hold down retainer.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

4. Install the underhood electrical center and the nut to the strut tower stud.

Tighten
Tighten the nut to 3 N.m (27 lb in).

5. Connect the battery (positive) cable.

Tighten
Tighten the battery (positive) cable terminal bolt to 15 N.m (11 lb ft).
6. Connect the battery ground (negative) cable.
