Procedures

CAUTION:
^ Gasoline or gasoline vapors are highly flammable. A fire could occur if an ignition source is present. Never drain or store gasoline or diesel fuel in an open container, due to the possibility of fire or explosion. Have a dry chemical (Class B) fire extinguisher nearby.
^ Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the fuel filler cap.
3. Remove the fuel filler pipe (pickup only).
4. Disconnect the fuel fill hose from the fuel tank (4 door utility only).

NOTE: The pickup truck fuel filler pipe contains screens. In order to prevent damage to the screens do not drain the fuel through the fuel tank filler pipe.

5. Use a hand operated pump device in order to remove the fuel through the fuel filler hose (pickup), through the fuel filler pipe (2 door utility) or through the fuel tank fill pipe nipple (4 door utility).
