Case Adapter: Service and Repair


Removal Procedure
1. Remove the transfer case. Refer to Transfer Case Replacement.





2. For vehicles equipped with automatic transmission 4L60-E, remove the six bolts securing the adapter and the seal to the transmission.





3. For vehicles equipped with automatic transmission 4L80-E, remove the six bolts securing the adapter and the seal to the transmission.

Installation Procedure





1. For vehicles equipped with the 4L60-E automatic transmission, lubricate the seal mating surface area with oil GM P/N 12346143.
2. Install the adapter and seal to the transmission.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

3. Install the six bolts securing the adapter to the transmission.
^ Tighten the adapter bolts to 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.).





4. For vehicles equipped with the 4L80-E automatic transmission, lubricate the seal mating surface area with oil GM P/N 12346143.
5. Install the adapter and seal to the transmission.
6. Install the six bolts securing the adapter to the transmission.
^ Tighten the adapter bolts to 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.).
7. Install the transfer case. Refer to Transfer Case Replacement.
