Refrigerant Temperature Sensor: Service and Repair

AIR CONDITIONING (A/C) REFRIGERANT LOW TEMPERATURE SENSOR REPLACEMENT

TOOLS REQUIRED
J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector

REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Recover the refrigerant.




2. Disconnect the electrical connector from the low side temperature sensor.




3. Unscrew the A/C low side temperature sensor (1) from the refrigerant line and remove the sensor from the vehicle.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Ensure the low side A/C temperature (1) sensor has a O-ring installed and the O-ring is not damaged. Lubricate the low side A/C temperature sensor (1) with a light coating of refrigerant oil.




2. Install the A/C low side temperature (1) sensor to the refrigerant line.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

Tighten
Tighten the sensor to 9 N.m (80 lb in).




3. Connect the electrical connector to the sensor.
4. Recharge the A/C system.
5. Leak test the fittings of the component using the J 39400-A.
