This system, Fig. 6, reduces hydrocarbon and carbon monoxide levels by injecting air into the intake and exhaust manifolds. Air is added to the intake manifold to lean the mixture flowing from the carburetor. Air is added to the exhaust manifolds to continue the cumbustion of fuel vapors contained in the exhaust gases. The system consists of the following components: air pump, diverter valves, electro-valves, intake manifold air injection valve, oil thermoswitch, and non-return valve.
