SUBJECT: FACTORY SEALED MOTRONIC ECU'S
MODELS: ALL 405 VEHICLES MANUFACTURED AS OF VIN 506980
This bulletin is a follow-up to Service Bulletin No. 335, Class 01, dated March, 1989.
Beginning with VIN 506980, the factory has been installing Motronic ECUs that are sealed during production. These ECUs can be identified by a special clear sealing compound on the breather hose, plastic grommets, and phillips head screws. There is no sealer visible along the seam between the base plate and cover, as this area is sealed prior to assembly.
NOTE: NO ATTEMPT SHOULD BE MADE TO APPLY ANY ADDITIONAL SEALER TO THESE UNITS.
